LATA’S PR services for members
LATA works with the media to ensure it is recognised as the authoritative voice on the subject of Latin American tourism in the UK. The promotion of LATA in the media helps to raise the profile of Latin America as a destination and its members as key participants in the market.
LATA collates the latest news from across the membership and circulates it to the UK’s trade and consumer media and across our own social media channels. The team also receives and circulates requests from journalists for press trip support or information for articles and round-ups. This offers members further opportunities for UK media exposure.
LATA offers all members a complimentary 30-minute PR workshop tailored to each members’ needs and requirements. Please contact Katie to arrange at katie@lata.travel. There is also a dedicated LATA PR WhatsApp community for members to share PR stories and insights, alongside LATA sharing any media opportunities.
LATA’s PR scheme is a free service for LATA members.
PR OPPORTUNITIES & PRESS REQUESTS
LATA is regularly contacted by journalists for information. The team will alert members via email of all journalist requests. Please remember that journalists work on a very tight schedule and often require a same day response. For very urgent and last-minute requests, these will be sent out on the LATA WhatsApp PR group.
HOW TO GENERATE MEDIA EXPOSURE THROUGH LATA
Please see this detailed document to help you make the most of the PR service LATA offers for its members.
We also held a training session on how to make the most of the PR service, which you can view here:
MEDIA NEWSLETTERS & ROUND-UPS
The LATA PR team distributes quarterly newsletters to UK-based trade and consumer media to stimulate Latin American press coverage. Members are invited to submit any relevant news as it arises for consideration, and LATA will also send a reminder ahead of each newsletter being published. Suggested themes for the media newsletter include:
- News for 2025.
- Major tourism developments such as new airline routes, new destinations opening up, significant new infrastructure
- Booking trends. Is an area seeing a sudden growth in demand. Can that be linked to any reason?
- Major anniversaries/events that are relevant to a UK reader
- International films or series set in / or about a noteworthy event / person / location in your destination such as Paddington goes to Peru, One Hundred Years of Solitude, BBC Race Across the World
Please note that the UK media need a price (ideally in GBP) outlining what is included/excluded and a URL. If you have images, please supply as high res and in an online link rather than attachments.
To increase your chances of inclusion, we recommend DMCs working with tour operator partners to provide a full package that consumers would book.
Please submit news to our PR team using the online form.
REACTION TO NEWS AGENDA
The LATA PR team monitors the Latin America news agenda and either pro-actively or reactively release statements on behalf of LATA’s members.
